It is important that volunteer literacy programs celebrate student achievements. Here is one way to do this.

The Jacksonville Public Library captures adult literacy student success on a BragBoardpictured here. (Yes, we know the pix is sideways!) The following are comments from the BragBoard.
Ahaleh,an English as a Second Language (ESL) student aspiring to become a stylist wasaccepted to “hair School” as she calls it, thanks to help from the libraryproviding her a class to learn English.
Lyudmylais a new citizen of the United States because of the library’s help.
Valentian,from Romania, and Thida, from Cambodia, are e-mailing each other in betweenclasses which helps them practice their English all because of the literacyprogram.
Onestudent recently began work at the GED Academy at Florida State Colleges afterattending library classes for a year. She raised her reading skills three gradelevels and has enough reading skills to attend the more advanced classes.
